UPSC CSE Prelims 2026: Provisional Answer Key Released for Candidates
UPSC CSE Prelims 2026 Answer Key Released
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has unveiled the provisional answer key for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) Prelims 2026. This allows candidates to evaluate their preparation by comparing their answers with the official key.
This year marks a notable shift in the UPSC Civil Services Examination process, recognized as one of the most challenging competitive exams in India. For the first time, UPSC has released the answer key prior to the announcement of results, ending the prolonged wait for numerous candidates and igniting discussions among aspirants.
Over 800,000 candidates participated in the UPSC Prelims held on May 24 across the nation. Many students arrived at exam centers with aspirations of joining esteemed services like IAS, IPS, and IFS. As is typical, unofficial answer keys circulated on social media shortly after the exam, but the official release by UPSC has provided significant relief to candidates.
Significant Change in UPSC's Process
Historically, UPSC would only release the final answer key after completing both the Prelims and Mains examinations, often leaving candidates waiting for months to confirm their answers. However, this year, the Commission has made a substantial procedural change by issuing a provisional answer key right after the Prelims.
This reform is being recognized as one of the most impactful changes by UPSC, allowing candidates to assess their performance promptly and begin preparing for the Main Examination sooner.
Opportunity to Register Objections
In addition to releasing the answer key, UPSC has enabled candidates to file objections. A dedicated 'Question Paper Representation Portal' has been launched for this purpose. Candidates who believe an answer is incorrect can submit an objection along with necessary evidence to support their claims.
