The Anganwadi recruitment initiative will soon kick off in the Child Development Services and Nutrition Department of Uttar Pradesh. This recruitment drive will include 7,952 positions for Anganwadi workers and 61,254 positions for Anganwadi assistants. Chief Secretary S.P. Goyal has mandated that the recruitment process be executed transparently, fairly, and within the designated timeframe. He emphasized the need for a standardized recruitment schedule across all districts to ensure consistency and prevent delays.
Details of the Vacancies
Leena Johri, the Additional Chief Secretary for Women's Welfare, explained that out of the 7,952 Anganwadi worker positions, 2,123 are linked to the pre-selection process, 306 are for newly established Anganwadi centers, and 5,523 have been created following the upgrade of mini Anganwadi workers to primary workers. Among the 61,254 assistant positions, 38,994 have become vacant due to retirements or deaths, while 22,260 have been generated by converting mini Anganwadi centers into primary centers. This brings the total to 69,206 new job openings.
Formation of Recruitment Committees in Districts
The Chief Secretary has instructed that a recruitment committee be established in each district, led by the District Magistrate (DM). This committee will oversee the recruitment process to ensure complete transparency. All districts are required to plan the recruitment schedule in advance to ensure timely completion of all stages.
Enhancement of the "Saksham Anganwadi" Scheme
During the meeting, it was noted that 23,697 Anganwadi centers in the state are being upgraded to "Saksham Anganwadis." Each center will be equipped with facilities such as nutrition gardens, rainwater harvesting systems, RO machines, LED screens, ECCE materials, wall paintings, and minor civil works. The Chief Secretary urged for the swift completion of the buildings under this initiative to provide improved facilities for children and women in every village.
