Details of the Recruitment

The Supreme Court of India has issued a notification for the recruitment of 250 Junior Court Assistants. Interested candidates can submit their applications until 11:55 PM on October 28, 2026. This recruitment pertains to Group-B non-gazetted positions, with the Junior Court Assistant role classified under Level-6 of the pay matrix, offering a starting salary of ₹35,400 per month, along with additional allowances as per regulations.


Vacancy Information

As per the Supreme Court's notification, the 250 Junior Court Assistant vacancies are provisional and may be adjusted based on administrative needs or Registry requirements. Reservation benefits will be provided in accordance with Rule 4-A of the Supreme Court Officers and Servants Rules, 1961.


Eligibility Criteria

Who Can Apply?


Candidates must be Indian citizens and possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized university in India. Proficiency in computer operations and a typing speed of at least 35 words per minute are essential. The age limit for applicants is between 18 and 30 years as of September 1, 2026. Age relaxation is applicable for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, PwD, and Ex-Serviceman candidates as per the rules. Dependents of freedom fighters may receive an additional relaxation of up to 5 years. The upper age limit does not apply to departmental candidates from the Supreme Court Registry.

The application fee is set at ₹1,500 for General and OBC candidates, while it is ₹750 for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, Ex-Servicemen, and PwD candidates. Additional bank charges will apply. Payments can only be made online through the UCO Bank payment gateway.


Selection Process

Four-Stage Selection Procedure


The selection for the Junior Court Assistant position will occur in four stages: an objective-type test, a computer typing speed test, a descriptive written test in English, and an interview. The objective test will feature 100 questions worth a total of 100 marks, covering topics such as English, General Aptitude, General Knowledge, relevant provisions of the Indian Constitution, Supreme Court Rules 2013, and computer knowledge. There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for incorrect answers. Candidates must score at least 50 marks in the objective test to qualify for the next stages. If many candidates qualify, the selection for typing and written tests will follow a ratio of approximately 1:10.
