Exciting Opportunity for Athletes: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has announced the recruitment of 56 positions under the sports quota, providing a great opportunity for athletes aiming for a career in the Railways. The online application process commenced on July 25, 2026, and will remain open until August 24, 2026, for eligible Indian athletes nationwide.

Details of the Recruitment

56 Positions Available:
A total of 56 positions will be filled across various pay levels as per the 7th Pay Commission.

Out of these, 25 positions will be allocated to the Alipurduar, Katihar, Rangiya, Lumding, and Tinsukia divisions.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:
For Level-2 and Level-3 positions, candidates must have completed 12th grade or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.

For Level-1 positions:
Completion of 10th grade, ITI qualification, or a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) from NCVT is required.

Sports Achievements:
Valid sports achievements must have been attained on or after April 1, 2024. For Level-2/3, candidates should have participated in designated international or national competitions or secured at least third place in national competitions. For Level-1, participation in or securing a specified position in national or state-level competitions is necessary.

Age Limit and Salary

Age Requirement:
Candidates should be between 18 and 25 years old as of January 1, 2027. The Class 10 mark sheet or certificate will serve as age proof.

Salary Structure:
Selected candidates will receive salaries according to the 7th Pay Commission norms:

• Level-3: Grade Pay ₹2000
• Level-2: Grade Pay ₹1900
• Level-1: Grade Pay ₹1800

Additional allowances will be provided as per regulations.

Selection Process

Two-Stage Selection:
The recruitment will occur in two phases:

1. Sports Trial (40 marks):
   Marks will be awarded based on sports ability, physical fitness, performance, and coach's assessment. Candidates scoring 25 or more marks will advance to the next stage.
2. Interview and Assessment (60 marks):
   Marks will be allocated based on sports achievements (50 marks) and educational qualifications (10 marks).

Minimum Qualifying Marks:
Level-3: 65 marks; Level-2 and Level-1: 60 marks.

Important Recruitment Information

Selected candidates will undergo a two-year probation period and must sign a bond to serve Indian Railways for a minimum of five years post-appointment. They must also meet the medical standards for their respective posts. No travel allowance will be provided for attending the sports trial, and candidates must bring their own sports equipment.
