MBA Graduates Find Expanding Opportunities in Global Capability Centers
MBA Jobs: A Growing Landscape
MBA Jobs: The rise of Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India is now extending beyond just IT and tech sectors. These centers are pivotal for multinational companies, managing essential functions like finance, marketing, human resources, business analytics, and supply chain management.
GCCs serve as operational hubs for international business activities, enhancing business strategies, innovation, and decision-making. Their increasing footprint in India has led to a surge in demand for professionals with robust business knowledge, data analysis skills, effective communication, and team management capabilities. As per the NASSCOM–Zinnov India GCC Landscape Report, India hosts 2,117 GCCs, employing around 2.36 million individuals and generating nearly 98.4 billion US dollars in revenue.
Rising Demand Across Management Fields
Expanding Opportunities:
The growth of GCCs has opened numerous career paths for MBA graduates. In finance, roles encompass budgeting, financial planning, and risk management. Human resources positions focus on talent acquisition, employee development, and managing global teams. In marketing and customer experience, roles related to market research, consumer behavior analysis, and international marketing are gaining prominence.
According to the 'GCC Plus' survey by EY conducted in November 2025, 79% of the centers surveyed manage finance functions, 65% handle human resources, 54% oversee supply chain management, and 31% are involved in marketing operations. These statistics reflect the presence of these functions rather than their specific employment share.
Why is MBA Demand Increasing in GCCs?
The report highlights a shift in GCCs from back-office tasks to large-scale product development and global leadership roles. By 2030, the number of global leadership positions in Indian centers is expected to rise from 6,500 to over 30,000.
Organizations are on the lookout for talent in forward-deployed and hybrid roles, such as Forward-Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and hybrid managers, who blend business insight with technical expertise to facilitate AI and digital transformation.
The finance and operations sectors within GCCs are evolving beyond basic accounting, now spearheading enterprise-wide transformations, risk management, and compliance with over 500 regulatory mandates.
There is also a trend towards hiring mid-career professionals (with 4–10 years of experience) who bring both domain knowledge and strong managerial skills.
