Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) Update: The Education Department of Madhya Pradesh has provided clarity regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). As per the newly issued guidelines, it is essential for teachers who have not cleared the TET, mandated by the Right to Education (RTE) Act, to participate in this examination. This year, the TET will be conducted in offline mode by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education.
**Exemption for CTET-Qualified Teachers**
According to the guidelines, the TET will apply to various categories of teachers, including Assistant Teachers, Primary Teachers, Contract School Teachers (Category-3), and Primary Teachers (Science/Laboratory) in government schools. Furthermore, High-Grade Teachers, Middle School Teachers, and Contract School Teachers (Category-2) at the secondary level will also be required to take the exam.
However, those who have successfully passed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) are exempt from taking the TET. Additionally, teachers from private schools instructing primary and secondary classes are also eligible to sit for this eligibility test.
**Application Deadline: October 5**
Applications must be submitted through the Staff Selection Board's online portal, with the final date for submission set for October 5, 2026. The department has stated that exam centers will be assigned based on the district headquarters where the teachers are currently employed.
In a special arrangement, teachers from the Pandhurna and Mauganj districts will have the option to take the exam at centers located in Chhindwara and Rewa districts, respectively. However, if the number of candidates in a specific district is minimal, the MP Board retains the authority to assign centers in nearby districts or at the divisional level.
Reports indicate that around 1.5 lakh teachers are eligible for this exam, yet only approximately 19,000 applications have been received to date.
