The long-awaited notification for the recruitment of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) by India Post for the year 2026 has finally been released. The Postal Department is set to recruit a total of 28,740 Gramin Dak Sevaks nationwide, which includes positions for Branch Postmaster (BPM) and Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM). Interested candidates can apply online through the official portal.

The online application process will commence on January 31, 2026, and will close on February 14, 2026. Candidates must ensure that their application fees are paid by February 16, 2026. Additionally, a correction window for the application form will be available from February 18 to February 19, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria for Gramin Dak Sevak Recruitment

To be eligible for the Gramin Dak Sevak positions, applicants must have completed their 10th grade. The age requirement for candidates ranges from 18 to 40 years. Selection will be based on the marks obtained in the 10th standard.

Salary Structure

The monthly salary for the ABPM and GDS roles ranges from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 24,470. In contrast, the BPM positions offer a higher salary, between Rs. 12,000 and Rs. 29,380.

Application Fee Details

The application fee for the Gramin Dak Sevak recruitment is set at Rs. 100 for candidates belonging to the General and OBC categories. However, there is no application fee for SC, ST, and all female candidates.
