Coal India Selection Process & Examination Scheme




  • Selection Method: Selection is strictly based on the marks obtained in the Computer Based Online Test (CBT). There is no personal interview.

  • Exam Pattern: The test consists of two papers (Paper-I & Paper-II) conducted in a single 3-hour session.

  • Paper-I: General Knowledge, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and General English (100 Questions).

  • Paper-II: Professional Knowledge related to the specific discipline (100 Questions).

  • No Negative Marking: There is no penalty for incorrect answers in the CBT.




Coal India Compensation, Training, and Service Bond



Pay Scale: Selected candidates will join as Management Trainees in E-1 Grade with a salary scale of ₹60,000 – ₹1,80,000. During the one-year training period, the basic pay will be ₹60,000 per month plus applicable allowances (DA, HRA, PRP, etc.).


Service Agreement Bond: Appointed candidates are required to serve the company for a minimum of 60 months (5 years). A service bond of ₹3 Lakhs must be executed at the time of joining. To facilitate this, ₹5,000 will be deducted monthly from the salary, which will be refunded without interest upon completion of the 5-year tenure.


Final Year Eligibility: Students currently in their final semester/year of the 2025-26 academic session are eligible to apply, provided they complete their degree and provide results by 31.08.2026.
