CBSE Class 12 Results Decline and Re-evaluation Process

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has recently announced the results for Class 12, revealing a decrease in performance compared to previous years. This decline is believed to be linked to the online evaluation of answer sheets conducted this year. However, both CBSE and the Ministry of Education have denied these claims. As a result, attention is now focused on the re-evaluation process for the Class 12 answer sheets. To facilitate this, CBSE has lowered the re-evaluation fee, allowing students to access scanned copies of their answer sheets. The re-evaluation process began on May 19, but many students have reported difficulties logging in to apply for the re-evaluation. Despite these complaints, CBSE maintains that the system is operating smoothly.

Technical Issues Reported by Students

CBSE launched the re-evaluation process for Class 12 answer sheets on May 19, providing a dedicated portal for students to submit their applications. However, on the first day, numerous students experienced technical difficulties, with many taking to social media to express their frustrations about the portal crashing and their inability to log in.

CBSE's Response to Technical Complaints

In light of these reports, CBSE has responded by asserting that the system is functioning properly. Sanyam Bhardwaj, the Controller of Examinations, mentioned that they received a limited number of calls from students facing login issues, but no further complaints were reported afterward. He explained that sometimes, a cached version of the webpage may load instead of the current one, advising students to restart their computers. He reassured that if students are unable to submit their applications at the moment, they should try again later, as this does not indicate a prolonged inability to apply.

Changes to the Re-evaluation Portal

Bhardwaj confirmed that the re-evaluation portal is functioning well, even stating that he successfully submitted a dummy application. He dismissed claims of significant glitches, attributing any issues to potential weak internet connections on the users' side. Additionally, he noted that the CAPTCHA feature had been removed from the portal after students reported issues with it not appearing.

Application Deadline and Fee Reduction

The re-evaluation process for Class 12 answer sheets commenced on May 19, with applications accepted until May 22. Students will be able to view their re-evaluated answer sheets between May 26 and May 29. The Board has also reduced the fee for viewing answer sheets to ₹100 from ₹700, and for verification or authentication, the fee is now ₹100 instead of ₹500.
