AFMC Pune's Remarkable Achievements



The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune has made significant strides in medical education, ranking first in Maharashtra and third nationally in the 'India Today-MDRA Best Medical College Ranking 2026'. It stands out as the top government medical college in India, offering the most affordable tuition fees. The college excelled in various evaluation criteria, achieving the second position nationally for career progression and placements, and third in both objective and perceptual assessments.


In addition to this, AFMC has secured the fifth position among all medical colleges in India according to the 'THE WEEK-Hansa Research Survey 2026'. It has been recognized as the leading medical college in the Western region, highlighting its pivotal role in medical education and training. These accolades reinforce AFMC's commitment to excellence and motivate the institution to elevate standards in education, research, patient care, and leadership, thereby enhancing military medicine and national healthcare.


This year's survey evaluated 62 medical colleges across the nation. AIIMS Delhi topped the list, followed by Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) in Puducherry at second place. AFMC Pune claimed the third spot, while Christian Medical College (CMC) in Vellore and Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi secured the fourth and fifth positions, respectively.
