CBSE Class 12 Results 2026: Decline in Performance and Evaluation System Explained
CBSE Class 12 Examination Results Released
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the results for the Class 12 examinations conducted in 2026. This year marked a significant change as the evaluation of answer scripts was carried out using the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for the first time. Unfortunately, the results indicate a decline, representing the lowest performance in the past seven years. Notably, students in the Science stream have reported lower scores in subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. While some attribute this decline to the new OSM system, CBSE has denied these claims.
CBSE's Defense of the OSM System
In response to the concerns raised, CBSE has issued a statement defending the OSM system. The Board emphasized that the introduction of this system aims to enhance transparency and uniformity in the evaluation process. Since the results were declared, various posts on social media have highlighted the lower marks achieved by students, particularly in the Science subjects. CBSE clarified that the OSM system was designed to ensure fairness and consistency in marking across different subjects and regions.
Re-evaluation Options for Students
To address the ongoing controversy, CBSE has outlined the options available for students dissatisfied with their results. A significant aspect of the evaluation system is the provision for re-evaluation. This initiative reflects the Board's commitment to transparency and fairness in the assessment process.
Additionally, students will have the chance to review their evaluated answer sheets. If discrepancies are found, they can request corrective measures. All procedures related to this must be conducted through the official channels established by CBSE.
Commitment to Fair Evaluation
CBSE reaffirms its dedication to maintaining a fair, consistent, and transparent evaluation system. The Board ensures that its methodologies align with robust evaluation practices, aiming to uphold the integrity of the assessment process.
