Students Raise Concerns Over Evaluation Process

CBSE: Despite the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announcing the Class 12 results 15 days ago, numerous students are still voicing their concerns regarding the evaluation method, particularly the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. They are questioning the process behind scanning the enormous 400 million pages of answer sheets.

Allegations of Blurred Scans and Missing Sheets

On various social media platforms, students have been reporting that they received unclear or blurred scanned versions of their answer sheets. Additionally, several students have claimed that their supplementary answer sheets have gone missing. As of now, the CBSE has not provided any official response to these allegations.

Understanding the Scanning Process

**How Were 400 Million Pages Scanned?**

With over 1.7 million students participating in the exams, board officials revealed that 9.8 million answer sheets were assessed using the OSM technique. Typically, each answer sheet comprises around 35 to 40 pages. During the exams, many students request additional sheets, usually between one to three, after filling their main answer booklets. This leads to an average of about 40 pages per student’s complete set of answer sheets.

When all these sheets are considered, it results in a staggering total of 400 million pages needing to be scanned. This has raised questions among students, parents, and educational experts about how such a vast number of answer sheets could be scanned at once and how the entire process was monitored effectively.

CBSE's Response to Student Grievances

**CBSE Claims to be Resolving Issues, Yet No Relief for Students**

In light of the complaints regarding the OSM process, the CBSE maintains that it is working to address the issues raised by students. However, many students have yet to see any tangible relief from their concerns. Notably, over 400,000 students have already sought re-evaluation, while many others are unable to apply due to not receiving their scanned answer sheets.
