Uttarakhand's Dhami administration has annulled the graduate-level examination conducted by the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission. This decision follows the findings of an inquiry commission and affects around 1.05 lakh candidates.

Inquiry Commission's Role

The state government was awaiting the report from a single-member inquiry commission established to investigate the exam, which took place on September 21, with approximately 105,000 participants.

Rising Concerns Among Students

The recent incident of a paper leak has heightened anxiety among students and their families. Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has taken decisive action by forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and appointing retired Justice UC Dhyani from the Uttarakhand High Court to lead the inquiry commission. The commission's main goal is to conduct a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the leak and identify those responsible.

Public Engagement for Information Gathering

The inquiry commission has actively engaged with the public, organizing sessions in Dehradun, Haldwani, and other cities. These interactions allowed them to collect feedback and experiences from students, candidates, and educators. Many candidates expressed that the leak had caused them significant mental distress, while teachers and school administrators provided recommendations for actions that would best serve the students' interests. The commission's report was compiled based on these insights.

Calls for Exam Cancellation

In addition to the feedback gathered, there has been a strong demand from students, their families, and political factions for the exam's cancellation. On Friday, a group of BJP MLAs approached Chief Minister Dhami, urging him to annul the exam and arrange for a new one to safeguard the interests of the students.
