JEE Main 2026: Important Advisory for Candidates

JEE Main 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a crucial notice for candidates participating in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2026. This notice specifically addresses candidates whose submitted photographs and identification documents contained inconsistencies. The NTA has now extended the deadline for photo verification for candidates without Aadhaar to January 15th.

As per the official announcement from the NTA, affected candidates will receive a link via their registered email addresses, allowing them to upload the required certificate in PDF format. Additionally, candidates must bring a printed version of this certificate to the examination center on the exam day for physical verification.

Examination Schedule
The JEE Main 2026 Session-1 exams are scheduled to take place from January 21st to January 30th. Prior to the examination, candidates will receive a City Intimation Slip detailing their examination location, which can be accessed on the official website. Candidates can download this slip using their application number and password.

The NTA has confirmed that JEE Main 2026 will be held in two sessions. Registration for Session-1 occurred from October 31st to November 27th, 2025. During the application review process, discrepancies were identified in the identification documents and photographs of certain candidates, prompting this advisory.

Updated Guidelines
Previously, the NTA required candidates to submit a verified and signed certificate along with a recent photograph from their school or college principal or headmaster. However, numerous candidates reported challenges in contacting the relevant authorities.

In response to these concerns, the NTA has modified the requirements, now permitting candidates to have their certificates verified by a Class-I Gazetted Officer. This includes officials such as Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), and District Collector. Indian candidates residing abroad can have their verification completed by a Class-I Gazetted Officer at the Indian Embassy.

The NTA strongly advises candidates to finalize all necessary procedures ahead of time to prevent any issues on the examination day.
