Exciting Fellowship Opportunities at NLSIU



Young individuals aiming for a research career in law, social sciences, and public policy have reason to celebrate. The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru has unveiled its fellowship program for 2026. This initiative allows candidates to participate in research, policy formulation, and academic endeavors. Different fellowship categories come with specific educational and experience prerequisites. Selected fellows will earn a monthly stipend that ranges from ₹50,000 to ₹2 lakh, depending on their fellowship type.


Fellowship Categories Available

The NLSIU fellowship program offers three distinct categories based on qualifications and experience: Graduate Research Fellowship, Postdoctoral Fellowship, and University Research Fellowship.


1. **Graduate Research Fellowship**: Applicants must possess an LL.B. degree. Those pursuing or holding a postgraduate degree in social sciences, public policy, or related fields are also eligible.


2. **Postdoctoral Fellowship**: Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in law, social sciences, or public policy within the last three years and should not have held a postdoctoral position at another university.


3. **University Research Fellowship**: This requires a Ph.D. along with a minimum of 10 years of teaching or professional experience in a relevant area, as well as a strong publication record.


Stipend Details

The stipend varies by fellowship type: Graduate Research Fellows will receive ₹50,000 per month, Postdoctoral Fellows will earn ₹1,20,000, and University Research Fellows can receive up to ₹2,00,000. Throughout the fellowship, selected individuals will be expected to engage in research and policy-related tasks.
