Scholarship Amounts by Study Level:



  • Diploma courses: ₹20,000 per year

  • Undergraduate courses: ₹22,000 per year

  • Postgraduate courses: ₹25,000 per year

  • M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs: ₹30,000 per year


This financial aid helps students cover essential educational expenses, including books, study materials, and hostel fees.


Application Requirements

To qualify for the NEC Merit Scholarship, applicants must meet specific criteria:



  • Must be a permanent resident of one of the eight northeastern states.

  • Must have achieved at least 60% marks in their last qualifying examination.

  • Family income should not exceed ₹8 lakh annually.

  • Must be enrolled in a recognized educational institution.


Application Process

The application for the NEC Merit Scholarship is entirely online. Interested candidates should visit the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) of the Government of India to apply.


They must complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) and upload necessary documents, including an Aadhaar Card, Bonafide Certificate, and Income Certificate.


Once all details are filled in correctly, applicants can submit their forms online.


Annual Renewal Requirement
