Madhya Pradesh 10th Grade English Exam Controversy: Teacher Suspended for Question Paper Leak
Controversy Surrounds 10th Grade English Exam
A significant uproar occurred on the inaugural day of the 10th-grade board examinations in Madhya Pradesh. Shortly after the English exam commenced at a school in Burhanpur district, images of the question paper began circulating widely on social media.
The incident took place at the Government Higher Secondary School in Tukaithad on Tuesday. Reports indicate that the English exam started at 9 a.m., and it is alleged that Rajkumari Soni, a supervising teacher, posted a photo of the question paper on her WhatsApp status.
The image reportedly spread across various social media platforms just minutes into the exam. Investigations revealed that the teacher captured a photo of the question paper that was left on the desk of an absent student. Allegations suggest that this photo was shared with another individual to assist candidates in cheating.
Administrative Response
Upon discovering the situation, District Collector Harsh Singh and other officials promptly visited the examination center. Following a preliminary inquiry, the teacher was suspended. Additionally, Jitendra Kumar Kulkarni, the head of the examination center, and assistant head Anita Dixit were also suspended due to negligence.
Indore Division Commissioner Dr. Sudam Khade initiated these actions based on the district administration's report. Officials have stated that strict measures will be enforced against anyone who jeopardizes the integrity of the board examinations. Superintendent of Police Devendra Kumar Patidar confirmed that a case has been filed against the teacher under the Madhya Pradesh Recognized Examinations Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The police are currently investigating the matter and examining the involvement of others.
Clarification on Exam Integrity
In response to the paper leak allegations, the district administration asserts that the question paper was not compromised. Officials noted that 109 students were present at the examination center before 8:40 a.m., and the question paper was distributed on schedule. The teacher's status update occurred around 9:06 a.m., after the exam had started, which is why it is not officially classified as a leak. As of now, the administration has not announced any plans for a re-examination, maintaining that the exam proceeded without issues and that there was no risk of a paper leak.
