Candidates preparing for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 examination should note that the exams are set to begin tomorrow, April 2nd, and will continue until April 9, 2026. This examination will be conducted in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, divided into two shifts: the first from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and the second from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The National Testing Agency has released comprehensive guidelines for the examination day. Are you aware of what items are allowed and prohibited in the exam hall? If not, this article will clarify everything you need to know.
Permitted and Prohibited Items in the Exam Hall
Candidates must refrain from bringing the following items into the examination hall: instrument boxes, handbags, any type of paper or stationery (printed or handwritten), food and drinks (both loose and packaged), mobile devices, calculators, and any electronic gadgets. Additionally, wearing or carrying any watches, including electronic ones with calculators, or metallic objects is not allowed. Be aware that there will be no facilities at the exam center for storing valuable items.
However, diabetic candidates are allowed to bring sugar tablets, fruits (like bananas, apples, or oranges), and transparent water bottles. Packaged food items such as chocolates or sandwiches are not permitted.
Essential Guidelines for Candidates
It is crucial for candidates to arrive at the examination center well ahead of time. To avoid any last-minute issues, it is recommended to reach the center 30 minutes to 1 hour before the exam starts. Entry will be denied after the gate closing time mentioned on the admit card.
Candidates must not forget to bring their admit card, as entry will not be granted without it.
In addition to the admit card, candidates need to present the original ID proof submitted during the online application. Photocopies or digital images on mobile devices will not be accepted.
Candidates should also carry at least two passport-sized photographs to the examination center.
For those applying for B.Arch and B.Planning programs, Paper 2 will take place in a single shift from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM on the last day of the examination.
