Introduction of New B.Tech Courses



IISc Bengaluru has announced the introduction of three innovative B.Tech programs, set to commence in 2026. Admissions will be based on scores from the JEE Advanced examination.

The institute, recognized as one of India's leading science institutions, is expanding its engineering offerings. The new B.Tech programs include:


  • B.Tech in Materials Science and Engineering
  • B.Tech in Mechanics and Computing
  • B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering

These courses are structured to provide students with a solid foundation from the outset. The curriculum emphasizes not just theoretical knowledge but also practical understanding, experimentation, and computational techniques. Admission Process

To enroll in these B.Tech programs, candidates must pass the JEE Advanced 2026 exam. Following this, seat allocation will occur through the JoSAA 2026 counseling process, which is also used for admissions to IITs and other top engineering colleges.


Exam Schedule

The JEE Advanced 2026 exam will be conducted by IIT Roorkee on May 17. Candidates must rank among the top 250,000 in the JEE Main 2026 BE/B.Tech paper to qualify. Eligibility requires candidates to be born on or after October 1, 2001, with age relaxation for reserved categories. Students can attempt JEE Advanced twice in consecutive years, and they must have completed their Class 12 exams in 2025 or 2026, with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects.
