The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) is set to introduce two innovative dual degree programs combining MTech and PhD studies. These programs will focus on 'Biomedical Analytics and Engineering' and 'Quantum Information and Technology.' **Pathway to PhD Research**

A significant aspect of these dual degree programs is the opportunity for students to engage in PhD research while completing their MTech coursework. Students will undertake MTech studies in the first year, and from the second year, they can enroll in the PhD program and start their research. A scholarship is planned for the first year of MTech, with additional research scholarships available once students progress to the PhD level.

The institute has proposed a total of 40 admission seats, with 15 allocated for 'Biomedical Analytics and Engineering' and 25 for 'Quantum Information and Technology.' Admission will be based on GATE scores, providing engineering and science graduates a chance to specialize in these rapidly advancing fields.

The proposed curriculum for both programs was presented to the Senate by the Department of Applied Sciences, which has approved the courses. The final step is obtaining approval from the Board of Governors to officially launch the programs.
