The AICTE-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship (GRI) program will allow Indian students to engage in research at prestigious Canadian universities over a three-year span starting in 2027. These internships are scheduled to occur between May and October.
Eligibility Criteria for GRI

The application process for the 2027 program is now open, with a deadline of September 16. Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate proficiency in either English or French.
Bilateral Agreement and Student Mobility
Agreement Signed in March
A bilateral agreement focused on education, research collaboration, and talent mobility was established during the Canadian Prime Minister's visit to India in March. This agreement led to the expansion of the GRI program. Government reports indicate that Canada continues to be a favored destination for Indian students seeking higher education; in 2024, approximately 427,000 Indian students traveled to Canada.
