Indian Army JAG Entry 2027: The Indian Army has opened applications for the Judge Advocate General (JAG) Entry Scheme (125th Course). This recruitment initiative allows unmarried male and female candidates with an LLB degree to apply for officer positions in the JAG Branch under the Short Service Commission (SSC).


Application Process and Important Dates

The application process began on July 17, 2026. Interested individuals can submit their applications through the official Indian Army website. Training for selected candidates is scheduled to commence in April 2027 at the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai.

Vacancies and Eligibility Criteria

Vacancies: The Indian Army has announced a total of 10 vacancies for the JAG Entry 125th Course. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply, with final seat allocation dependent on the Army's operational needs.


Eligibility:
Candidates must hold an LLB degree from a recognized institution with at least 55% marks, which can be from a three-year LLB program or a five-year integrated law course.


It is mandatory to appear for the CLAT PG 2026 exam, as initial selection will be based on these scores. Scores from other years will not be accepted.


Additionally, candidates must be eligible for registration as advocates with the Bar Council of India or any State Bar Council.


Age Limit and Selection Process

Age Limit: Applicants must be unmarried and aged between 21 and 27 years as of January 1, 2027. This means candidates should not be born before January 2, 2000, or after January 1, 2006.


Selection Process:
The recruitment will occur in multiple stages:



  • Shortlisting based on CLAT PG 2026 scores.


  • SSB interviews at selection centers in Prayagraj, Bhopal, Bengaluru, and Jalandhar.


  • Medical examination for successful candidates.


  • Final merit list based on SSB interview scores.



Service Tenure and Physical Standards

Service Tenure: Selected candidates will receive a Short Service Commission for 10 years, which may be extended by up to 4 years based on eligibility and requirements. Eligible officers may also have the chance to secure a Permanent Commission.


Physical Standards: Candidates must meet specific physical standards before starting training in the Army.

Salary and Benefits

Salary: During the 49-week training at OTA Chennai, candidates will receive a stipend of ₹56,100 per month.


Upon commissioning as a Lieutenant, the salary will range from ₹56,100 to ₹1,77,500 per month under Pay Level-10, along with a Military Service Pay (MSP) of ₹15,500 per month and additional allowances. The total annual CTC is estimated to be between ₹17 lakh and ₹18 lakh.
