Introduction to AI in Education

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making a significant impact across various sectors, including education. Schools are now incorporating AI-based curricula, and numerous AI-driven learning platforms have emerged. Among these innovations, the ‘PadhAI with AI’ portal is attracting considerable attention. Currently operational in two states, there are plans for its nationwide rollout, with NITI Aayog already initiating preparations.

Understanding the ‘PadhAI with AI’ Portal

The ‘PadhAI with AI’ portal, developed by IAS officer Saumya Jha from the Rajasthan cadre, was launched in government schools during her tenure as District Magistrate of Dausa and Tonk. This initiative specifically targets Class 10 students across 351 schools. Remarkably, within just six weeks of its introduction, there was a notable improvement in academic performance in these institutions.

Features of the ‘PadhAI with AI’ Portal

Primarily focused on mathematics, the ‘PadhAI with AI’ portal also supports learning in other subjects, especially in regions facing a shortage of math teachers. The portal customizes its teaching approach based on students' comprehension levels. If a student struggles with a concept, the portal provides alternative explanations using different examples. Additionally, students can retake practice tests, and those who excel are featured on the portal's homepage weekly.

Current Implementation in States

Initially launched in select districts of Rajasthan, the success of the ‘PadhAI with AI’ portal led to its adoption by the Himachal Pradesh government in recent months. Plans are now in motion for its implementation on a national scale.

NITI Aayog's National Rollout Plans

NITI Aayog is actively preparing for the nationwide launch of the ‘PadhAI with AI’ portal. Reports suggest that the portal will first be implemented in 50 selected blocks across the country. Furthermore, it has been integrated into NITI Aayog’s newly inaugurated technology system.
