SSC CGL 2025: 15,125 Vacancies Announced for Central Government Positions

SSC CGL 2025 Final Vacancy Count Released



The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially announced the final number of vacancies for the Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025. This recruitment drive aims to fill thousands of positions across various ministries, departments, and organizations within the Central Government. After minor revisions to earlier figures, the confirmed total now stands at 15,125 vacancies. Specific quotas have been set aside for candidates from Unreserved, OBC, SC, ST, and EWS categories. Candidates are required to indicate their preferences for posts prior to the final results being announced.


Increase in Vacancies

Initially, a notification dated June 9, 2025, called for applications for 14,582 positions. Following requests from different ministries and departments for additional posts, the total was increased by 543. These recruitments will cover Group 'B' and Group 'C' roles within the Central Government's various entities, including constitutional and statutory bodies.

The highest number of vacancies—6,626—are for the Superintendent position under the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), part of the Ministry of Finance. Additionally, there are 412 vacancies for Income Tax Inspectors and 1,294 for Tax Assistants.

Candidates who participated in the Tier-2 examination are required to submit their post preferences before the final results are declared. The results for Tier-1 were released on December 18, and the Tier-2 examination took place from January 18 to 20.


Upcoming Recruitment Processes

SSC to Soon Initiate Process for New Recruitments


The Staff Selection Commission is preparing to launch the application process for three new recruitment examinations this month. These include the SSC CGL Examination 2026, Junior Engineer Examination 2026, and Selection Post Phase-14 Examination. Applications will be accepted until the end of April, with preliminary computer-based exams tentatively scheduled for May. Additionally, notifications for the SSC CHSL Examination 2026, Stenographer Grade C and D Examination 2026, and Combined Hindi Translator Examination 2026 will be released next month, with exams likely occurring between July and September.
