Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan: A Unique Opportunity for Aspiring Young Scientists
Introduction to Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan
Students in schools who are passionate about science have a remarkable opportunity to intern at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) laboratories. This initiative allows them to collaborate with distinguished scientists and compete for cash prizes and scholarships. Interested students must submit their applications for the 'Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan' by October 15.
Understanding Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan
Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) is a nationwide initiative designed to promote scientific knowledge among school students. This program is organized by Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) in partnership with NCERT and NCSM, which operates under the Ministry of Culture. The primary goal is to discover and nurture students with a scientific mindset through a national ranking examination.
Eligibility and Application Process
Students from Classes 6 to 11 are eligible to apply for the national ranking examination for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is October 15, and students can apply either individually or through their respective schools.
Examination Structure
The national ranking examination will be conducted in three levels and categories. Students in Classes 6 and 7 will be grouped together, while those in Classes 8 and 9 will form another category, and Classes 10 and 11 will be in a separate group.
The initial online examination is set to take place at the district level from November 16 to 21, 2026. This will be followed by state-level exams on December 27, 2026, and January 3, 10, and 17, 2027. The date for the national-level examination will be announced on February 28.
Internship Opportunities and Cash Prizes
A significant aspect of this competition is the chance for winners to undertake a two to three-week internship in IIT laboratories, working alongside esteemed scientists. At the state and zonal levels, the first-place winners will receive ₹5,000, while the second and third positions will earn ₹3,000 and ₹2,000, respectively.
At the national level, the top winner will be awarded ₹25,000, the second-place winner ₹15,000, and the third-place winner ₹10,000. Additionally, a monthly scholarship of ₹2,000 will be granted for one year.
