UPSC CSE Prelims 2026 Guidelines: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is set to conduct the Civil Services Preliminary Examination on Sunday, May 24, 2026. A large number of candidates are anticipated to participate in this examination. In light of this, the Commission has released comprehensive guidelines that candidates must adhere to, particularly concerning exam timings, dress code, necessary documents, and prohibited items. Any breach of these regulations may lead to disciplinary measures against the candidate.

Entry Timings

**Gates Close at 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM**
UPSC has made it clear that entry will be restricted 30 minutes before the exam starts. Therefore, candidates will not be allowed entry after 9:00 AM for the morning session or after 2:00 PM for the afternoon session. The first shift begins at 9:30 AM, while the second starts at 2:30 PM. Candidates are strongly advised to arrive at the examination center well ahead of the scheduled time.

Examination Requirements

Candidates must use only black ballpoint pens for the examination. Both the OMR sheet and attendance sheet should be filled out using this specific pen. Answers marked with any other color will not be considered.

Prohibited Items

**Mobile Phones and Smartwatches Strictly Prohibited**
UPSC has enforced a total ban on mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, smartwatches, cameras, pen drives, and other electronic gadgets inside the examination center. Only standard wristwatches are permitted. Digital watches with communication features are not allowed.

Mandatory Documents
