Lucknow University Achieves Milestone in Legal Education
Lucknow University has reached a notable achievement in legal education by receiving approval from the Bar Council of India (BCI) to introduce a five-year integrated BBA-LLB program. This course is set to begin in the academic year 2026-27, with a capacity to enroll 180 students, divided into three sections of 60 each. The new program allows students to study management and law concurrently, enhancing their career prospects in the evolving legal and corporate landscapes.
First State University in Uttar Pradesh to Offer Integrated Degree
With this endorsement, Lucknow University becomes the pioneering state university in Uttar Pradesh to provide an integrated BBA-LLB degree on campus. This initiative allows students to engage in a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses both law and management disciplines.
Focus on Student Training
Vice-Chancellor Prof. JP Saini emphasized that this approval reflects the university's dedication to maintaining high educational standards in legal studies. The course is designed to cultivate legal professionals who can excel in a global environment.
The curriculum will include topics such as management science, financial accounting, marketing, constitutional law, business law, and international legal systems. Students will also participate in practical experiences through case studies, legal drafting, and internships.
Career Opportunities for Graduates
Graduates of the BBA-LLB program will find numerous employment opportunities in corporate law firms, multinational corporations, banking sectors, non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), insurance industries, and legal compliance roles.
Annual Review of National Education Policy
Additionally, Lucknow University plans to conduct an annual assessment of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020's impact and progress. An 'NEP Progress and Performance Committee' will be established for this purpose. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai mentioned that the committee will consist of principals from five districts, deans from various departments, the Dean of Student Welfare, and the Dean (Academics). This committee will evaluate the NEP's implementation and provide recommendations for enhancements.
