DMRC Provides Priority Access for Students During CBSE Exams
DMRC's Initiative for Students
On February 20, 2026, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced a new initiative aimed at assisting students during their examination days. Students holding valid CBSE admit cards will receive priority access to metro stations.
The CBSE board examinations for Classes 10 and 12 commenced on February 17, 2026, and will run until April 10, 2026. These exams are significant for millions of students nationwide, particularly in the Delhi-NCR region. Each morning, numerous students rely on the Delhi Metro to reach their exam venues, often facing overcrowded conditions that can lead to delays and anxiety about arriving on time.
Benefits for Students
In light of these challenges, the DMRC has implemented special measures to ease the process for students. The announcement made on February 20, 2026, highlighted that students will be prioritized at metro stations on exam days, provided they present a valid CBSE admit card.
Advantages of Priority Access
The DMRC stated that this initiative will streamline security checks for students. At metro stations, where the general public typically queues for security screenings, students will be allowed to bypass these lines. CISF personnel will prioritize checking students' admit cards, enabling quicker access to the metro.
Ticketing Convenience
Additionally, students will enjoy expedited ticketing services. They will be given priority at both ticket counters and automatic ticket machines (TOMs) at metro stations. By simply showing their admit card, students can move to the front of the line, minimizing delays and ensuring a smooth journey to their platforms.
Special Instructions from DMRC
To manage the expected influx of students, the DMRC has coordinated with the CISF to oversee crowd control at stations. Given the high volume of students during exam periods, staff have been issued specific guidelines. Announcements will be made at metro stations to inform passengers about the priority access for students and to encourage cooperation from other commuters.
Appeal to Passengers
The DMRC has urged regular passengers to allow students to pass through during exam days. If a student requests assistance by showing their admit card, passengers are encouraged to cooperate. This initiative aims to ensure that no student misses their examination. The DMRC notes that millions of students utilize the metro annually, with approximately 43-46 lakh students participating in the current CBSE board exams. Given that the metro is the most efficient and economical transport option in Delhi-NCR, this facility is crucial for students.
