CBSE Launches 14 New Capacity Building Programs for Teachers Under NEP 2020
CBSE's Initiative to Empower Educators
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made a significant advancement in implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by launching 14 new Capacity Building Programs (CBPs) aimed at enhancing teachers' skills. These programs are designed to equip educators with contemporary teaching methodologies, promote ongoing professional development, and enhance student learning outcomes.
Official Launch at National Teacher Conference in Patna
The new training modules were officially introduced during the National Teacher Conference in Patna. CBSE stated that these initiatives will initiate a new era in teacher development by providing educators with practical skills, innovative resources, and structured lesson plans. The modules aim to enrich subject knowledge while making teaching more engaging, interactive, and student-focused.
Emphasis on Effective and Inclusive Learning
The CBPs are designed to enhance teachers' abilities to implement innovative teaching strategies that align with the vision of NEP 2020. By improving teacher competencies, CBSE aspires to create classrooms where students achieve conceptual clarity, develop critical thinking skills, and experience holistic growth. Additionally, teachers will receive guidance to simplify lessons, making them more appealing and inclusive.
Programs Set to Begin in October
CBSE has directed all affiliated schools to motivate teachers to enroll in these programs. The training sessions will be conducted under the 'Prashikshan Triveni' initiative of CBSE’s Centre for Excellence (CSE). The rollout of these CBPs is planned to commence in October 2025, with each module tailored to address specific academic and pedagogical requirements.
Highlighted Training Modules
The following are some key CBPs included in this initiative:
- Hindi (Class 10): Effective teaching strategies aligned with national learning objectives.
- Sanskrit (Secondary Level): Emphasis on listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
- Painting (Secondary Level): Training in creative drawing, folk art, origami, printmaking, and calligraphy.
- Competency-Based Assessment (Social Science, Science & Mathematics): Techniques to foster critical thinking and problem-solving.

Enhancing Teacher Capacity for Modern Classrooms
The introduction of these CBPs signifies CBSE’s broader goal of transforming teaching methodologies in accordance with NEP 2020. With a focus on competency-based education, value-driven learning, and innovative teaching techniques, this initiative ensures that teachers are well-prepared to guide students in an evolving educational landscape.
These programs also underscore CBSE’s commitment to holistic learning outcomes, encouraging teachers to move beyond rote learning and foster analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills in students.
A Step Towards Future-Ready Education
With this initiative, CBSE is not only improving educational quality but also reinforcing the role of teachers as knowledge facilitators. The introduction of 14 structured programs will provide teachers with access to innovative resources and modern teaching practices, creating classrooms that are engaging, inclusive, and ready for the future, in line with NEP 2020's aspirations.
