CBSE Re-evaluation Announcement

In a significant development for countless students anxious about their CBSE Class 12 Board exam results, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched the portal for Mark Verification and Re-evaluation. Students who have received scanned copies of their answer sheets can now proceed to apply online for both verification and re-evaluation of their marks. The application window will remain accessible until June 6, 2026, allowing students to address any concerns regarding their scores within this period.

CBSE's Social Media Update

CBSE announced the portal's launch via its official 'X' account, encouraging students to view a video that outlines the application process before they submit their requests. The Board emphasized that the application process is straightforward, with detailed instructions available for students.

Re-evaluation Amid OSM Discussions

This year's re-evaluation process is unfolding amidst ongoing discussions about CBSE's new On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. For the first time, the Board has implemented a large-scale digital evaluation system, where examiners assess scanned copies of answer sheets. Following the results announcement, many students expressed concerns on social media regarding the evaluation process. Some reported receiving unexpectedly low marks, while others pointed out issues with the scanned copies, such as unclear images, and claimed their answers were not properly evaluated. This has led to a surge in interest regarding the re-evaluation process, with over 400,000 applications submitted.

Reduced Fees for Re-evaluation Services

In response to the OSM controversy and student complaints, CBSE has significantly lowered the fees for post-result services. The new fee structure is now ₹100 per subject for obtaining a scanned copy of the answer sheet, ₹100 per subject for marks verification, and ₹25 per question for re-evaluation. Previously, these fees were ₹700 for a scanned copy, ₹500 for verification, and ₹100 per question for re-evaluation, marking a substantial reduction and providing considerable relief to students.

Refund Policy for Increased Marks

Additionally, CBSE has stated that if a student's marks increase after re-evaluation, the fee paid for re-evaluation will be refunded.

Steps to Apply for Re-evaluation

To initiate the re-evaluation process, students must first acquire a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheet. They should thoroughly review the scanned copy for any unanswered questions, errors in totaling, missing pages, or evaluation discrepancies. If any irregularities are found, they should apply for marks verification. If it appears that marks awarded for a specific question are insufficient or if the evaluation seems incorrect, students can then apply for the re-evaluation of that particular question.
