The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has initiated a recruitment process for 1,189 positions as part of the BPSC Prelims 2026 examination. Interested candidates can apply through the official website before the deadline of May 31.


The application phase for the 72nd Combined Preliminary Competitive Examination 2026, organized by BPSC, is now in its concluding stages. Candidates can submit their applications online until May 31, 2026. This recruitment will fill a total of 1,189 vacancies across various departments within the Bihar government.

Total Number of Posts Increased

The recruitment drive will fill 1,189 vacant positions. A revised notification from the Commission indicates that the number of posts for Lower Registrar/Joint Lower Registrar in the Prohibition, Excise, and Registration Department has been raised from 3 to 6. Reservations are available for different categories, including General, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Backward Classes, and Women.


Eligibility Criteria

Candidates wishing to apply for the BPSC 72nd Combined Competitive Examination 2026 must possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution. Applicants from all streams—Arts, Science, or Commerce—are eligible. For specific specialized roles, a degree in the relevant field is necessary; thus, candidates should thoroughly review the official notification prior to applying.

Age Limit for Applicants

The age criteria for BPSC recruitment stipulates a minimum age of 20 to 22 years, depending on the post. The upper age limit for male candidates in the General category is 37 years. Female candidates, along with those from Backward Classes and Extremely Backward Classes, can avail of an age relaxation up to 40 years. Candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) can have a maximum age limit of 42 years.
