The Rajasthan Public Service Commission has announced significant changes to the syllabus and exam pattern for the RAS examination in 2026. Key changes include the removal of sports and yoga from the preliminary exam and the introduction of an essay section in the main exam. Candidates can expect a more rigorous evaluation of their critical thinking abilities. With no recruitments in 2025, a surge in vacancies is anticipated for 2026. For detailed information, the updated syllabus is available on the commission's official website.

Rajasthan Administrative Service Exam Updates

A significant update has been announced for those preparing for the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) examination. The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has unveiled a revised syllabus and exam pattern for the RAS exam scheduled for 2026. This marks the first substantial revision of the syllabus since 2013, with nearly one-third of the content being updated. The aim is to enhance the analytical and practical aspects of both the preliminary and main examinations, thereby altering the preparation approach for candidates.

Revised Preliminary Exam Structure

The syllabus for the RAS preliminary examination has undergone notable changes. Previously included subjects such as sports and yoga are no longer part of the curriculum. The entire 20-mark segment dedicated to these topics has been eliminated and replaced with content from the Rajasthan Examination Act 2022.

Transformations in the Main Examination Format

The most significant alteration in the RAS main examination pertains to the fourth paper. This paper, which used to focus solely on Hindi and English, now incorporates an essay component. The new structure will consist of three sections: Hindi, English, and Essay, where candidates must compose a detailed essay on one of six provided topics.

Moreover, 15 questions previously valued at 2 marks each have been removed from the General Studies papers. These have been substituted with more analytical questions worth 5 and 10 marks, aimed at better evaluating candidates' critical thinking and writing skills. Additionally, 25 questions in Hindi grammar, each worth 2 marks, have been eliminated, simplifying the syllabus.

Future RAS Recruitment Based on New Syllabus

The commission has stated that all future RAS recruitments will adhere to this updated syllabus. Given that there were no recruitments in 2025, a significant number of vacancies are anticipated in 2026. Candidates can find the detailed syllabus on the official website of the commission.
