UPSC Announces CMS Examination Details



The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially announced the notification for the Combined Medical Services (CMS) examination. Candidates interested in participating can register online by visiting the UPSC's official website. This year's notification highlights the highest number of vacancies in the past six years, making it a significant opportunity for applicants. The last date for submission of applications is March 31, 2026.


Eligibility Criteria


To be eligible for the Combined Medical Services examination, candidates must be under the age of 32 years. Age relaxation is available for candidates from special categories: SC and ST candidates receive a five-year extension, while OBC candidates are granted a three-year extension. Applicants must possess an MBBS degree from a recognized institution in India.


Candidates who have taken the NEET PG and AIIMS PG exams are also eligible. Furthermore, those in their final year of MBBS or currently completing their internship can apply. This recruitment is also open to Foreign Medical Graduates.


Application Fee


Women, SC, ST, and differently-abled candidates are exempt from the application fee. However, candidates from the unreserved category must pay a fee of ₹200.


Recruitment Categories


The UPSC notification outlines two recruitment categories. The first includes Junior Scale positions within the Junior Health Services, with a total of 864 vacancies available. The second category encompasses roles such as Assistant Divisional Medical Officer, General Duty Medical Officer in the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), and Medical Officer in the Delhi Municipal Council.
