Eligibility Criteria
Who is eligible to apply?
Applicants must be Indian citizens or OCI cardholders. Foreign nationals are also permitted to apply for the FPIS course. Candidates should hold a recognized postgraduate degree, such as MD, MS, DM, MCh, DNB, or DRNB, relevant to the fellowship they wish to pursue.
It is essential for applicants to be registered with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or a State Medical Council, with either permanent or temporary registration being acceptable. This registration must be presented during the admission or counseling process. Additionally, candidates must have received their degree or passing certificate by the specified cut-off date to qualify for application.
Fellowship Stipend and Training
What is the stipend?
This fellowship provides a monthly stipend ranging from approximately Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 1.25 lakh, subject to adjustments as per NBEMS regulations.
The training duration is typically two years and is conducted on a full-time basis. During this period, candidates will engage in practical hospital work, attend classes, maintain logbooks, and participate in regular assessments. A final examination will be held at the end of the training, and successful candidates will receive a fellowship certificate.
Exam Pattern
What is the exam format?
The NBEMS Fellowship Entrance Test will be conducted in a computer-based format, lasting 1 hour and 45 minutes. The exam will feature multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with the total number ranging from approximately 100 to 120, depending on the subject area. Each correct answer will earn 4 marks, while 1 mark will be deducted for each incorrect response.
The syllabus for the exam will align with the relevant broad specialty and the selected super-specialty. To qualify for counseling, candidates must achieve at least the 50th percentile in their respective specialty.
