Coal India Management Trainee Exam: Objection Process and Result Timeline
Coal India Limited Introduces Objection Facility for Management Trainee Exam
Coal India Limited has initiated a new feature allowing candidates to review their responses and submit objections regarding the computer-based test for Management Trainee positions, conducted on August 24, 2026. This facility will be accessible from 10:00 AM on August 30, 2026, until 11:55 PM on September 3, 2026. Candidates can log in to their accounts to view their response sheets and challenge any discrepancies in the provisional answer key.
It is important to note that Coal India will only accept objections through the specified online portal; any objections submitted through other means will not be acknowledged.
Procedure for Raising Objections:
Candidates should follow these steps to raise objections:
- Log in to the portal using your personal credentials.
- Access your response sheet.
- Review the answers listed in the provisional answer key.
- Submit online objections for any questions you believe are incorrect.
- Ensure to complete the objection process within the given timeframe.
After the objection period concludes, experts will evaluate the challenges submitted by candidates. Valid objections will be factored into the final answer key, which will subsequently influence the candidates' final scores.
Expected Declaration of Results:
The review of objections is anticipated to occur in the first week of September. Following this, the results for the Management Trainee written examination, along with the final scorecard and merit list in PDF format, are expected to be published in the second week of September.
The merit list will feature the roll numbers of candidates who qualify for the next recruitment phase. After the results are announced, selected candidates will be invited for:
- Document verification
- Initial Medical Examination (IME)
These processes are likely to take place in late September or early October. Candidates will need to present their original certificates and other required documents at designated Coal India locations.
Candidate Participation:
For this recruitment initiative, Coal India aims to fill 660 Management Trainee positions. A total of 129,870 candidates registered for these roles, with the following distribution across key disciplines:
| Discipline | Number of Candidates |
|---|---|
| Civil | 48,414 |
| Systems | 42,678 |
| Mechanical | 38,778 |
This indicates a highly competitive recruitment process.
Exam Structure:
The Management Trainee computer-based examination consisted of two papers, each worth 100 marks, totaling 200 marks. Candidates were allotted 3 hours (180 minutes) to complete the exam.
To ensure fairness, Coal India will implement statistical normalization when preparing the merit list, adjusting for any score variations across different exam shifts.
