NEET UG 2026: NTA Announces Refund Process Updates and Cybersecurity Warnings
NEET UG 2026 Refund Process Update
In a significant development for NEET UG 2026 candidates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has revealed that students who mistakenly entered incorrect bank details will have a chance to correct them post-examination. This announcement includes essential information about the refund procedure, bank verification, and other crucial updates.
As part of the NEET UG 2026 examination process, the NTA has provided important information regarding fee refunds. The agency clarified that refunds will only be processed to bank accounts that have been registered and verified on the official website. Furthermore, students who made mistakes while entering their bank details will be allowed to amend them after the exam.
Importance of Accurate Bank Details for Refunds
The NTA emphasized that the refund process will be conducted online and securely. Therefore, it is vital for candidates to ensure that the bank account information they provided is both active and accurate. Submitting incorrect account details could lead to delays in the refund process or even prevent payment from being processed. Refunds will only be issued to accounts linked to the candidate's name that have been successfully verified on the portal, making it essential for students to verify their information carefully.
Verifying Bank Details
Students are encouraged to visit the official portal to confirm their bank details. They can log in using their application number along with either their password or date of birth. Once logged in, candidates should navigate to the 'Bank Verification' section to review their bank account number, IFSC code, and account holder's name. Any discrepancies should be corrected promptly.
Additional Correction Opportunity
In response to feedback from candidates facing challenges with bank detail updates, the NTA has decided to provide an additional correction window after the examination. This will allow students who entered incorrect bank account information or faced verification issues to update their details. This initiative aims to ensure that no student is denied a refund due to data entry mistakes.
Addressing Student Concerns
Recently, numerous students expressed concerns on social media regarding the refund process, fearing they might not receive their refunds if their bank details were incorrect. In response to these concerns, the NTA has assured that eligible candidates will have the opportunity to make necessary corrections, ensuring their funds reach the correct accounts.
Cyber Fraud Awareness
Alongside the refund updates, the NTA has issued a warning about potential cyber fraud. The agency cautioned that some individuals may attempt to deceive candidates by offering expedited refunds or claiming to assist with bank verification. Students and their families are advised to be wary of suspicious calls, SMS messages, emails, or social media links, and to obtain official information solely from the relevant portal.
The NTA has made it clear that it never requests OTPs, passwords, UPI PINs, or any payment-related information from candidates.
