NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: Enhanced Security Measures Implemented
NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam Overview
The NEET UG 2026 re-examination is set to take place with significantly improved security protocols at examination centers. The entire process, from the creation of the question paper to its delivery, is now under stringent security measures.
In light of the previous paper leak incident, both the government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) are taking no chances. The examination system has undergone a complete overhaul, with enhanced security at exam centers and a high-security protocol governing the entire workflow. Major changes have been implemented for the NEET UG re-exam scheduled for June 21.
Collaboration for Enhanced Security
For the first time, the Indian Air Force, the Department of Posts, central security forces, and local authorities will work together to secure the question papers. The experts involved in preparing the papers will be kept in complete isolation to prevent any leaks. Let's delve into the process of how the NEET UG paper will be transported: from the NTA to the Air Force, and then via the Post Office to the exam centers.
Reasons for Increased Security
A nationwide uproar followed the paper leak incident after the NEET exam on May 3, leading to the cancellation of the exam and the decision to conduct a re-exam. In response, the NTA has introduced several new security measures to eliminate any chances of irregularities.
Transporting the Question Papers
The Indian Air Force will play a crucial role in transporting the question papers to around 18 regional centers across the nation. Utilizing Air Force aircraft under special security protocols will ensure the safe delivery of papers to various states. This is the first instance of the Indian Air Force being involved at this level for a significant examination like NEET.
Delivery from Regional Centers to Exam Centers
Once the question papers arrive at the 18 regional centers, the Department of Posts will be responsible for their transportation to the exam centers. This delivery will occur under strict security measures, with a three-tier security system in place, monitored continuously by central security forces, local police, district administration, and NTA officials.
Isolation of Paper Setters
Special attention will be given to the subject experts involved in setting the question papers. They will be kept under surveillance until June 21, with limited contact with the outside world to prevent any leaks. Monitoring will also extend to digital platforms, with the NTA and other agencies keeping a close eye on social media and messaging apps. Immediate action will be taken against any fake question papers or suspicious activities.
Exam Locations and Format
The NEET UG re-exam, scheduled for June 21, will take place in approximately 552 cities across India and 14 cities internationally. The exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper format from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. The NTA is developing a new technical system where even the experts setting the questions will not know which specific exam they are preparing for. A digital bank containing thousands of questions across various subjects will be created, and technology will be used to compile the final question paper from this pool, further reducing the risk of leaks.
