JEE Main 2027: Important Updates for NRI Candidates

JEE Main 2027: Good news has emerged for NRI candidates gearing up for JEE Main 2027. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that candidates lacking documents like Aadhaar, PAN, or a driving license can utilize their passport as a valid form of identification during the registration process. This change aims to ease the application procedure for Indian citizens living abroad. According to a report from a prominent news source, the NTA confirmed this update in response to an inquiry from a candidate on its official X account. The application process for the first session of JEE Main 2027 commenced on October 24, and candidates can submit their forms by visiting the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. Additionally, the NTA has introduced a new feature allowing candidates to fill out a completely new application form, even if they have already generated an application number or paid the exam fee.

Using Passport as Identification

Passport as a Valid Form of Identification
When registering for JEE Main, candidates typically need to provide identity documents such as an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license. However, many NRI candidates residing abroad may not have these specific documents, which could complicate their registration process. A candidate raised a question on the NTA’s official X account: "How can NRI candidates without an Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license apply for JEE Main 2027? Can they use their passport instead?" In response, the NTA confirmed that passports can be used to complete the application process, which is particularly beneficial for NRI applicants facing identity verification issues.

New Application Submission Option

Option to Submit a New Form
The NTA has also eased the application process for the first session of JEE Main 2027. As per a recent public notice, candidates are allowed to submit a completely new application form. This option is available even to those who have already generated an application number or paid the examination fee. In essence, candidates who have previously applied can also fill out a new form, but they must ensure that all information is entered accurately and verified before submission.

Registration Timeline and Fees

Submit your JEE Main form without a late fee
Registration for the first session of JEE Main 2027 began on October 24. Candidates can apply without incurring a late fee until November 22. Applications will remain open after this date but will incur an additional fee. According to the NTA's schedule, applications with a late fee can be submitted from November 23 to November 26. Candidates are encouraged to complete their registration promptly rather than waiting until the last minute.

Correction Window and Examination Dates

Correction window to be open from November 27 to 29
After the application process concludes, the NTA will provide candidates with a chance to make corrections to their forms. A correction window will be available from November 27 to 29, during which candidates can modify specific details in their applications. It is advisable for candidates to refer to the official NTA notification to identify which fields can be edited, as not all information may be changeable.
