JEE Advanced 2026 Update

JEE Advanced 2026: A significant announcement has been made for the thousands of students who took the JEE Advanced exam. IIT Roorkee has made the recorded responses available for review. Students can now assess their submitted answers to evaluate their performance. This year, the recorded responses were sent directly to the email addresses registered by the students. The JEE Advanced examination took place on May 17, 2026, in a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format, with participation from numerous students nationwide. Initially, IIT Roorkee had planned to release the recorded responses on May 21 at 5:00 PM, but they were sent out after completing the necessary technical processing.

Understanding the Recorded Response Sheet

A recorded response sheet provides a comprehensive account of the answers students submitted during the exam. This allows candidates to pinpoint which questions they attempted and the answers they provided for each.

Students can now compare these responses with the official question paper and the likely answer keys released by various coaching centers. This enables them to estimate their potential scores even before the official results are announced.

Email Delivery of Responses

This year, the recorded responses were sent directly to students' registered email addresses. Students are encouraged to check both their inbox and spam folders. If any student has not received the email or encounters issues downloading the file, they should reach out to IIT Roorkee for help.

Website Access for Responses

While the recorded responses were primarily distributed via email, they may also be accessible on the official website. To download them from the site, students will need to input their application number, mobile number, and date of birth. Last year, many students faced challenges downloading their recorded responses from the website, prompting the decision to prioritize email delivery this time.

Provisional Answer Key Release Date

IIT Roorkee is set to release the provisional answer key for JEE Advanced on May 25, 2026. After this, students will have the opportunity to raise objections. If a student has concerns regarding any specific question or answer, they can submit their objections within the designated timeframe, which will be reviewed by subject matter experts.

Final Answer Key and Results Timeline

The final answer key will be published after addressing the objections raised by students. Reports indicate that the final answer key is expected to be released on June 2, 2026, with the results for JEE Advanced 2026 scheduled for June 1. Once the results are announced, successful candidates will be eligible for the next phase of the IIT admission process: JoSAA counseling.

Exam Participation Statistics

Data indicates that over 1.80 lakh students registered for JEE Advanced 2026, with approximately 1.75 lakh candidates actually taking the exam. JEE Advanced is recognized as one of the most challenging examinations globally and is crucial for students aiming for admission to the IITs.

Question Papers Released

IIT Roorkee made the question papers available on its official website immediately after the exam concluded on May 17. Following this, several prominent coaching institutes across the country released solutions to these papers, prepared by their subject matter experts. Students can now evaluate their correct and incorrect responses by comparing their recorded answers with the question papers and expert solutions. Experts suggest that there are typically no major discrepancies between the provisional and final answer keys, allowing students to start estimating their potential scores and ranks.
