Following the viral spread of this claim on social media, IIT Roorkee promptly acknowledged the issue on X, stating, "We appreciate your alert regarding the cloud storage configuration problem. We are addressing this matter as a top priority."
Concerns Over Data Security
This incident raises critical concerns about the security of students' admit cards and examination results.
Are your scores and ranks secure?
In response to these concerns, IIT Roorkee has reassured students and their families by clarifying an important aspect. The institute confirmed that all data stored in the affected cloud area was set to 'read-only' mode. This means that while the data was accessible for viewing, it could not be modified or tampered with in any manner. Additionally, the institute expressed gratitude to researcher Rayal Anil for promptly highlighting this vulnerability.
